So today, I went for a little ride in a UH-60 Blackhawk from the AVCRAD National Guard unit in Springfield. The view was incredible and the experience--once in a lifetime. I just tried to imagine this machine touching down in Iraq or Afganistan to load or unload troops into incredibily dangerous situations. I certainly felt a sense of awe and respect for the men who are just doing thier jobs.

Yesterday, I saw a helicopter flying north of Phelps Grove Park. I knew it wasn't a helicopter from St. John's. My husband said it was a Black Hawk. At the time, I wasn't so sure that he knew what he was talking about, although I did think it was some kind of military helicopter. Was that you flying over Springfield?

Yesterday morning the AVCRAD took some spouses of Nat'l Guard soldiers up for a little ride. I think there were 5 trips total. And we flew all over the Spgfld. area, so he was right.
